Business requirements

The Madison Bar & Grill needed a website that could handle everyday restaurant marketing alongside a genuinely functional booking and ordering operation — private-party enquiries, catering requests, table reservations, and online food orders all routed to the right staff without manual back-and-forth.

Main challenges

Booking requests were arriving through disconnected forms with no shared status tracking, and the existing checkout flow wasn't built for restaurant-specific needs like pickup windows, delivery assignment, or order-history lookups for repeat customers.

Development approach

I built a dedicated booking-approval system on top of WordPress so every enquiry — catering, private party, reservation, job application — lands in one place with a clear approval workflow, then extended WooCommerce with the order-status and driver-assignment logic the ordering side needed.

Outcome

Improved the ordering workflow, simplified booking and enquiry management for staff, and created a more consistent, responsive interface across the site's cart, checkout, and account pages.
